US Election 1856 Map

If you look at this map of the 1856 election, it looks fairly split apart. James Buchanan’s Democrats dominate most of the South and parts of the North. Then, there’s John C. Fremont’s new Republican Party that takes much of the North. Millard Fillmore of the “Know-Nothing Party” grabbed a few scattered pockets. In the end, the Democratic Party defeated the Republicans.
