US Election 1920 Map

The US election map of 1920 is a sea of red. Warren G. Harding, the Republican, won in a lopsided landslide. He carried the vote in nearly every state outside the South. The South stayed mostly Democratic, but everywhere else was deep red.

The 1920 Presidential Election map shows a massive landslide victory for Warren G. Harding (Republican) over James M. Cox (Democratic). This election is historically significant for being the first in which women across all states could vote.

Election Summary
- The Winner: Warren G. Harding (Republican) won with 404 electoral votes (76%).
- The Challenger: James M. Cox (Democratic) received 127 electoral votes (24%).
- Popular Vote: Harding won 60% of the vote (16,152,200) to Cox’s 34.5% (9,147,353).
- The “Solid South” Breached: Harding made significant inroads by carrying Tennessee and Oklahoma, states that were traditionally part of the Democratic stronghold.
- Massive Turnout: Due to the 19th Amendment, the total popular vote reached 26,759,723, compared to only 18,528,743 in 1916.
