The 2004 U.S. Presidential Election saw Republican incumbent George W. Bush defeat Democratic challenger John Kerry, securing a second term. This election was the first since 1988 in which a candidate won a majority of both the popular vote and the Electoral College.

- Winner: George W. Bush (Republican) won 31 states, totaling 286 electoral votes.
- Opponent: John Kerry (Democrat) won 19 states and D.C., totaling 251 electoral votes.
- Popular Vote: Bush received 62,040,610 (50.7%) while Kerry received 59,028,444 (48.3%).
- Faithless Elector: A single elector in Minnesota cast their ballot for the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, John Edwards, for President.
